Jay Angel Valentine (b. 2000) is a transmasculine painter, curator, creative director, model, dancer, publicist, and content creator currently working in Seattle, WA. Working with themes of love, lust, sex, and desire, Jay’s autobiographical oeuvre is a window into his intimate life as a gay trans man. Working heavily with the color pink, Jay uses the color as a visual representation of his personal relationship to gender and societal expectations of trans men. His work transcends the gender binary, sexualizing his own body with elements both traditionally masculine and feminine.
As Jay continues to move into the world of curation and creative direction, he aims to provide a platform for artists and themes typically unseen in major galleries. He made his curatorial debut in April, 2023 with SHIFT, a curated group show focusing on works made from recycled materials and found objects. Following the success of SHIFT, he created LoverBoy in August, 2023. LoverBoy is a curated group show highlighting works by queer and trans artists working with sexual themes. Jay aims to continue to platform erotic artworks, give space to exhibit transgender artists, and generate conversation around what is uncommonly recognized in the art world. Jay is self-represented and can be contacted via submission form, or directly via email at jayvalentineart@gmail.com.
